iTunes for Windows only officially supports Windows 2000 or XP[1]. You will not be able to install it on older versions.

If you need iTunes because you own an iPod and would like to transfer music from your computer, you can still use Windows 98 along with the third-party software EphPod[2]. To use EphPod, however, your version of Windows 98 must be SE (Second Edition).

If you are just looking for a digital media player, then try Winamp[3]. Winamp also supports Windows 98 SE.
