Is there a way to awake a person in a coma if not announced brain dead?
If there has been a horrible strike to the head that induced the coma if said person wakes up what will the extent of damage be to his speech memory...etc?

Some comas are medically induced (for example, to counter pain after sever burns) for the benefit of the patient. These comas may be reversed by the doctor.

Comas induced by injury or disease are usually not so easily reversed.

As to brain damage, every case is different.
