I mean, I know some friends that wear them. But I don't see the point...Don't they just hurt? And the shape they form is kinda weird. I'm sure I could stand one, but I'm not about to. Haha

When corsets were most popular (Victorian era), the ideal shape for the female body included a small waist with full hips and bust. The corsets that people make today aren't as strong as the tight Victorian whalebone models. Although the boning (usually made out of plastic) enhances an hourglass figure somewhat, usually people wear them to give an antique or exotic look, or to appeal to people who like lingerie.

I hope I helped!

The whole point is to suffocate you and cause you so much pain you'll want to kill yourself.
In the old days believe it or not women would actually break some of their ribs and wear corsets to make them smaller around the waist.
This practice would sometimes kill the woman as a broken rib would puncture a lung and the woman would die.
Then if a woman became pregnant they would continue to wear those torture devices and sometimes they and their child would die.
They also wore smelling salts around their neck so when they fainted due to lack of oxygen to the brain someone would revive them by placing the salt to their nose.
I've been to Columbia in California and seen some of the old fashioned dresses that these women wore and some of the waists on them were about as big around as my arm.
It's sad what some women will do to themselves simply for the sake of being accepted.

you will desire to be careful simply by fact this is a possibility to injure your self in case you lace too tightly. whilst women human beings wore them as well-known outfits, many would faint or grow to be dizzy simply by fact this is perplexing to respire. additionally they might reason injury to the ribs and doubtless problems with inner organs. i'm not sure that cinching motives everlasting relief of the waist whether it would end you from ingesting very plenty. submit to in techniques Scarlett O'Hara in "long previous With the Wind"? i bypass to many reenactment activities at which cinchers (like a large belt) and bodices are worn. in case you wander around contained in the summer season, you would be able to drop somewhat bit weight. yet, reshaping the physique usually starts with workout consultation the ultimate suited muscle groups. i does not count on a cincher/corset as a shortcut.
