I think it's a great idea! Don't wait for others to plan something for you! If you wanna do it now, then go for it! Enjoy yourself while you can.

Hey, I'm a little older than you, I never throw a party for myself.
My mother comes down to see me that day. But it would be ok, if I did. Tell you what, Travel, book a flight for yourself, to Butte County, California, we could meet, become friends and I
could give you a nice party- just the two of us. It would certainly be different than where you are. Then the second time you come, bring your kid. Ireland would be a good idea. I'd love to go there, myself. Maybe some day I will. Go for it, young lady!

I think a party is a great idea. I have thrown a party for myself before. It turned out to be a lot of fun. If you decide to take a trip to Ireland, which I have always wanted to do, take your kid(s). Then you wont be lonely. My mom always said that her children are her greatest accomplishment in life. Spend as much time with them as you can. Or, just do both. A single mom deserves all the pleasure she can get out of life. Spoil yourself. Hope you have a great birthday.

Throw a party for yourself. Go to Ireland and celebrate. You have made it to forty and you are a successful single mother - hell that alone is enough reason to celebrate!! Perhaps go with a group of people to Ireland and you never know you might meet the friend of a lifetime or a new husband .

Oh sweetheart, that sounds so sad. Throw a party and who knows all those acquaintances could become good friends. I have given parties for myself and found everyone really happy to be invited and they have a great time.
May I wish you a Happy Birthday, enjoy the day with the children and the evening with a fabulous party. Cheers !!

I dont think its a bad idea at all. My mom planned her 40th birthday, its your birthday you can do whatever the heck you want! However, Ireland would be a blast, and it wouldnt be that lonely once your there, plus you may enjoy traveling alone, you could do whatever you wanted, plus a trip would for sure being something you would NEVER forget. You can do either, but I would go on the trip!

It isn't bad to throw a party but you should relax and take a break from everything in life. Enjoy yourself! Your friends should at least throw you a surprise b-day party! Some friends! jk! Anyway if I were you, I would plan a trip. I hope I helped. Have fun! and Happy B-day! ^.^

You go and have yourself that 40th birthday party. Its a special birthday. I've too have never been given a birthday surprise party. For my 40th b-Day, I wasn't given a surprise party either. It was a nice b-day. Family took me out to dinner etc.
But, yes, its o.k. to give yourself the party and invite your friends to it. you can always go to Ireland later. And when you do go to Ireland, maybe then you would have someone to go with you. Hopefully, a special someone.

Throw yourself a party. My friend Heather does it all the time. Either send out invitations or just tell everyone to meet you at your house for a party, or a restaurant or place of amusement you like. Don't think twice about it. Happy Birthday!

Take the trip, meet new people, it beats partying anyday. [the day after the party you'll wish you were on that trip]. My aunt went to Ireland she said it is beautiful. Life begins at 40!
