I have algae and i need algae eaters but im afraid that they would get eaten. What should i do?

They might be safe for a while, but the plecos are more likely to rest during the day and your turtle is a natural fish-eater when it's young. Just because you've got an algae eater, doesn't guarantee that it will eat all types of algae, either.

Your best option would be to do more frequent cleanings in the tank. Algae needs light and nutrients to grow. I imagine you've got a place for the RES to get out of the water, and hopefully have a basking lamp (UVB) over that spot. It wouldn't be practical (or healthy for your RES) to turn the light off, so you have nutrient control as your option. I've kept RES, so I know just how much "nutrients" they can put into the water. An internal submersible filter will help some, but frequent partial water changes, siphoning poo, uneaten food, and scraped-off algae will do more. Use an aquarium siphon to get the stuff out into a bucket and remove about 1/3 - 1/2 of the water each time, and clean the filter media weekly.
