Sentence 3...no need for the word up. Raised already gives you the information as to which direction the head would be moving.

you dont need the "up" in the sentence the snake raised up its head, just let it be "the snake raised its head

I would strike "one" from your question. "contains" tells me there's only one, so the "one" is itself redundant.
