I am somewhat confused.
My council tax bill states that my bill is from April 2007 until March 2008 and that I can pay monthly by installments over 10 months, ergo, PAYING IN ADVANCE FOR SERVICES NOT YET RECEIVED!!!!!!
If I fall behind with these payments, can I legally be prosecuted / have bailiffs banging on my door / go to prison for NOT paying for services I have not yet received??
How can I be in arrears for something I have not yet had ie, how can I be prosecuted this year for not paying for my February 2008 bin collection?
Is this a breach of my human rights?
Do you know of anything else that this applies to?

Unfair isn't it? Ans yes you can have bailiffs knocking at your door cos we did! My husband refused to pay it because our council closed down our school and the nearest one is miles away so he refused to pay as the services were being taken away from us. We had the bailiffs come and demand the whole amount in 24 hours or they would remove goods! Don't know if it is a breach of human rights but would be interested to find out because I can't think of anything else that would get away with this!

The taxes might want to have jumped from 800 to 1500 in a month if the time-honored cost develop into once for part of the year and the bill has now arrived for the completed 12 months. My city prices quarterly and topics the time-honored 2 quarters on the side of perfect due dates. This shall we them finalize the budget and capture 22 subject very last tax prices which reflect any unpaid aspects from the time-honored 2 quarters. you want to examine your employ totally and observe what it says about taxes and who has to pay them. if you're reliable, then the bill must have come to you, now not the owner. If he's to blame, then the taxes are already protected on your employ. reading the employ is regardless of you ought to have performed previously than signing. He won't be able to emphasize you to leave contained in the week, yet when the employ says you want to pay the taxes, then he can bypass when you for the debts and prices of convalescing, provided he really pays the taxes himself. study your employ and get criminal suggestion.

You have a point - Labour's Brown has been fiddling the thing for years. It is Labour financial chicanery.

Like strokes he pulled on BP to move tax liabilities forward - or backdating tax on house equity withdrawal - taxed as income and backdated to 1987. It is pinched at the point where the consumer doesn't notice until they see their bills go up. They just distance effect from cause.

One more thing, do you think it would be a good idea that when we get the breakdown of what the money will be spent on we also get a breakdown of all the expenses such as how much councillors and staff are paid, what they spent on travel, eating out etc? It would be interesting to find out what percentage that is. We pay almost £900.00 per year out of an income of approximately £15000.00, is that right?

they do what they want honey, I'm in court at the end of the month because i didn't pay on time even though my bill is for the end of march NEXT year, and they will also add court costs to my bill which i am going to fight against its ridiculous, i will go to court at the end of the month and tell them exactly what i think of their system, not that it will change anything, its just their way of getting more money for services NOT rendered, wish me luck

Become a full time student and don't pay any. Some full time uni courses only have four or five hours teaching time a week!

4. Holidays
5. Petrol
6. Rail tickets
