i admit i do it too but some people i see driving have that thing glued to their ear 24/7 and its kinda scary. i understand the arguement is "well people drive and smoke, drink soda, eat, etc..." but cell phones can be very distracting because people really get into their conversations. whats everyones opinions?

Oh my stars YES! >screaming from mountaintop<

addendum: Eating can be just as worst. Imagine, not for long, someone choking off food while eating and driving. I'm sure there are cases of fallen cigarettes that may have caused accidents. & the hands free is almost as equal if not worst.

Yes. This is a true story I have told before on Polls. My husband and I were driving up the 401 when I noticed the car next to me. Red sports car, driver has
coffee, cigarette and cell phone. Who's driving?? I said to my husband that it might be a good idea to get away from her because she was weaving back and
forth. 2 weeks later, in our town paper, there was an article about a woman in a
little red sports car, coffee, cell phone and cigarette who became airborne. She
wound up across the grassy middle going the wrong way in oncoming traffic.
I don't know if she was killed or not. If not maybe she learned something??

I am against talking on the cell phone while you are driving, because there are to many people out there that don't do it responsibly. Other people wind up getting hurt because someone is not capable of using their cell phone responsibly.

I remember in the days before cell phones, people use to spend more time at home or in the office because that was where the phone was.

Here in NC, it's illegal to talk on a cellphone while driving if you're younger than 18. Personally, I think it should depend on the number of years of driving experience you have rather than how old you are. My father has been driving for 35 years now and he can drive with his knee on the wheel, a phone to his ear, and his arm searching under the backseat. I don't remember him EVER being in an accident where it was his fault (then again, I only remember him being in one accident). I think that people who have 5 or so years of driving experience should be able to talk on phones. Ten years would be better, but that would be pushing it.

There have been laws in this area that state you must have a headset or speaker phone to use your cell phone while driving.

I guess the lady who ran the red light and almost plowed into me, didn't get the memo.

I live in Camp Pendelton, and on all military bases there is one, But you see it all the time (you lose your driving privileges for 30 days the first time, and it goes up from there)

Yes, more accidents could be prevented and less lives could be lost. Just by that small change the world could become a little better.
