Four days ago, I left a pot on the stove and it burned, but did not catch fire. However, there was a lot of smoke and it took about 90 minutes to clear out. Unfortunately, the apartment still smells vaguely of smoke, and I'd like to fix this. What methods are best? I've tried Febreze. It didn't work.

Please, no silly or unhelpful suggestions.

Take pine-sol and delude it with water. Wipe down all your cabinets, counters, and stove with it. Use it to mop your flower then light some candles. Repeat this process once a day until the smell is gone! :)

Here is a suggestion for when you do this again, and hopefully that won't be too soon: When I was a student at a dormitory in an academy in Hawaii, I had to work in the kitchen to pay off my tuition.

One cook was from China and the other from the Philippines. There were times when I burned the rice cooking in the cast iron kettle on a gas burner, so they both told me that I should put a slice of bread on top of the rice, and close the lid for 10 minutes or more with the heat now off. I did that and lo and behold, there was no longer any burned food smell in the pot or in the surroundings.

I was amazed, but apparently the starch absorbed the charcoal! Good luck with getting the smell from the apartment. There are air cleaners that have ionizers that can removed the smoky smell--just like businesses that specialize in restoring your belongings that have been in a fire! Check into that.

Remove Kitchen Odors:

we take a very tiny bit of cinnamon and sprinkle it on the stove burner. Then we turn the burner on LOW and let it sit for a few seconds, someone always stands there and watches. Then turn the burner off and allow to cool, wipe with a damp cloth and your house will smell like you've been baking all day!!

Or you could try pouring 2 parts Vodka in a spray bottle with 1 part Water and spray your carpet, furniture, ect with a light mist twice a day, and allow to air dry!

Have a nice day!

This is going to sound silly, but it has worked for me in the past, take a glass bowl and fill it with one part white * vinegar and one part water, soak disk towels in the mixture and then ring them out until it is almost dry. Now this is the part that sounds silly, go in each room and twrill them above your head for as long as you can, also put one over your vents or a circulating fan overnight if possible. Again, they should not be dripping wet when you do this.

When my great aunt told me to try this, I thought she was ready for the funny farm, but then I tried it and I have to tell you it really worked.

*One warning though, only use white vinegar. Apple Cider and the other just do not work as well, and if you don't ring your towels out good enough staining can be a problem.

best thing for getting rid of the smell is. Put a pot on the stove, bring it to boiling point. Now add vinegar and leave simmering. Leave as long as you can , just keep topping up the water, this will rid the smell

because of the fact all of the smells intertwine whilst they prepare dinner and scent good. this is not complicated to make foodstuff scent good. this is extra durable to make foodstuff style good. my friends are finished chinese language i believe doubt they got here from usa yet their house is a finished pig sty. theirs crap they deliver about homestead from artwork throughout their front backyard and returned backyard and this is all broken issues like tables, refrigerator, washing machines, and so forth.. yet each so often whilst they are cooking it smells great. yet i noticeably doubt it tastes that good. why? basically walk infront of their door step and you will understand why theirs craps everywhere including ineffective plant life/animals decaying like fish. Im valuable they do no longer save at a real food market the two however the interior sight china city and actually everyone in my state is familiar with the china city isn;t impressive for groceries as this is been uncomplicated to hold rats and this is not any longer even that tasty. that being mentioned do no longer permit the smells fool you.

One of those automatic air fresheners that automatically sprays every 9, 18, or 36 minutes. That will help with the smell, or if you want a cheaper fix, Oust air sanitizer works well too.

you need to air it out leave at least one window open during the day AND night the bathroom window is good enough but leave the bathromm dorr open at all times if you choose that window if theres any other one bigger than i suggest that one but keep at least 1 window open when your at home open all of them including the front door. use carpet powder and vacumm it then use plug ins also use lysol disenfecting spray that gets rid of the burned smell.

well, i'm not sure about smoke but if you put a bowl of vinegar out for a while it will soak up all the odors in the room.

this sounds ridiculous but it works i promise.
