Heat the water to 88-90F for best results. With a betta that no problem what so ever.

Yes, often the ich will seem to get worse before it gets better, but at 90F you should see improvement within 48 hours.

It's possible that it would appear to get worse. The parasite attaches to the fish and creates a cyst and isn't affected at that point by medication. So if there were recently attached parasites, it would look worse.

It would be hard to say if you're using the correct treatment without knowing what you're doing for him. If you're using something liquid with malachite green as an ingredient, it's usually 1 drop per gallon. It it's a tablet for a ten gallon tank and you're breaking it, or pouring out a powder, that would be harder to estimate.

A full ich treatment takes 10-14 days to clear up. It would help if you could raise the temperature of his water - this speeds up the lifecycle, so the parasites will release from him sooner and go into the water where they can be affected. Hope your betta gets well!

It's lilkely that the treatment has not had a chance to start working yet. It should clear up soon! I just noticed my fish have ick too....
