It is truly an amazing story of 38 men and 1 Indian woman who acted as a guide and had a baby in the two years during their travels.
Interestingly enough Meriweather Lewis was married to a long distant relative of mine.
Please Google Lewis and Clark Expedition PBS it is a fascinating story. They sketched every bird and animal into journals as they traveled for the President of the United States, who financed the expedition.
Amazingly enough All 39 came back safely after following the Missouri River from St. Louis Missouri to the Pacific Ocean.
You will enjoy the story.
