I'm not very experienced with turtles, I just got one and it looked as if it's dead. One of my friends said it's just fainting or stressed out. It's not moving or blinking or anything. It's just stiff. How do you know when it's really dead or it's just fainting?
How do you know if they like anything? What else besides pellets can they eat? What could possibly happen to my turtle?
Help me....

Another friend of mine gave it to me as a farewell gift. She didn't tell me where she got it or any of the other details I can think of needing. Hey, don't yell at me for neglecting it!!

How did it behave in the store? When you got it, was it animated in that habitat? I'm assuming not.
Short of calling a vet, put it's food and water on the far side of the tank and give it 2hrs quiet time. Hopefully you'll see some change. Also, keep on eye on the temperature of the habitat.

You need to learn more about Turtles. You said Brazilian Turtle....which one? Several types live in Brazil. Is this a land or a water turtle???
And pellets are not a complete diet for any turtle. Plus they need heat and a place to hide.
Turtles don't faint AFAIK. Stiff could be drawn into shell and hiding/stressed out. Dead turtles often limp and the head will fall out of the shell if you pick it up.
I'd say talk to your local reptile vet, see if the animal can be saved. Educate yourself about Turtles so if it lives you can keep it better.
Land turtles I usually fed a salad of nutritious greens and some soaked dry dog food and some also ate crickets (which I would slow down in the fridge). Water turtles are mostly meat eaters. I fed them crickets, fish, a little dog food and some greens. They also got high UV and warmth.
Proper enclosures, proper lighting, proper diet all are very important. I won't buy from a chain store...they usually know nothing and often have sick animals. Contact your local Tortoise/Turtle club for info.
Live animals are not a good impulse buy. Learn before you get a pet.

It sounds dead, sadly. Turtles don't 'faint'. Pull on a leg- if it pulls it back, it is ill but alive. If it does not, it is dead.
As for the cares, etc., we need to know the species- there is no turtle really called the 'Brazilian Turtle'- and the term is used for several species that have very different cares.

Your asking question you should have asked before you brought it home. Living creatures have specific needs, and some of your questions tell me that maybe it died ( if it is dead) as a result of your neglect. Take the poor thing to a pet store. Shame on people who don't take owning a pet seriously.

is the heart beating? is it breathing? if you answered no to either of these questions, then the turtle is dead. why don't you take it to a vet instead of sitting by your computer waiting for an answer? some folks shouldn't have pets!

Do SOMETHING! move it, pick it up, splash it with water. And you shouldnt have pets if you cant tell the diffrence between dead and fainting.

It might be over stresses from the move. You can try feeding it lettuce. If it doesn't move by tomorrow, bring it to a vet.
