The arctic ice caps are melting 30 years ahead of forceasts. Proof that man can't predict climate on a global scale. My local weatherman couldn't even predict today's weather where I am today, so why should I believe a forcast for the ENTIRE planet? The trend may be leaning toward the earth warming, but its far from fact that man is causing any of it.

I'm sorry, I don't follow that logic. Because scientists underpredicted the rate of melting, that's proof that the theory of global warming is faulty?

No, that just proves that we're not very good at predicting melting rates. But global warming is not a mere weather forecast, and there is far more data involved in the theory than ice cap melting rates. True enough that the earth's climate is extremely complex and there isn't enough computer power on earth to simulate the complexities of the entire system, but that doesn't mean we understand nothing about the changing climate. In fact, this news of accelerated ice cap melting is a further indication of the effects of global warming and is fairly alarming.

Proof that global warming doesn't exist - no.

Proof that you don't know anything about global warming - yes.

Global warming is nothing to do with weather forecasts. Weather forecasts are local, variable, dynamic, short term, changeable, based on what's happening now; climate is none of these things.

I really think you need to do at least a little research before posting such inane questions. There is a serious debate about global warming, it's causes and effects; if you want to contribute to it then do so, but not by proferring something of no relevance at all.

The environmentalist named that 2 green house gases are what is the cause of the warming . Well GOD put plants here to take care of the CO2 and they are doing a great job.
Methane is the second cause . They have published all kinds of no. to show how big a problem . There is a problem in that methane is a very light gas and will go very high in our atmosphere . So they didn't measure it ,they just calculated what they wanted it to be. Well I don't know what they have done to the methane but I can not find it.

Also:

* though ice cores seem to suggest that temperature and CO2 levels are linked, further evidence suggests that the temperature rises, THEN the CO2 is released - and this has a time lag of around 800 years. Tempertaure causes CO2 increases, not the other way around.

* Tempertaures have dropped during the so called 'post-war economic boom' - even htough it is only during htis period that there has been a significant usage of fossil fuels. Yes, we were burning coal before that, but not on the worldwide scale we would do during the later portion of the 20th century. Yet this massive increase in CO2 emissions has been met with...DECREASING global temperatures.

Just a few facts for you there. However, I don't htink that your specific example really holds water- it might mean that warming is simply even faster than expected. But kudos to you for actually *thinking* about these supposed 'self-evident truths'.

I recently read, technically we are stil in an ice age... maybe things are going back to normal rather than away from. when dinasaurs existed it was meant to be hot.

Humans havent actually been around long at all by comparison to our atmosphere and its changed a lot during its millions and millions of years being there.

I think whats scaring people is the apparent speed of the change.

Look at it this way, if we start cutting back and trying to do something about it now, and it turns out to be false, what did we hurt? If we do nothing, and it turns out to be true, now what??? It won't hurt anything to do something now, but could be very serious if we wait and do nothing, by then it could be to late!!! Is it worth the risk to you??? But then again you aren't smart enough to figure out if the ice caps are melting 30 yrs ahead of predicted time, things are worse than they thought!!!

Maybe global warming is a hoax as all of you Bushbots may like to think. However, I would hope you all realize that pollution is getting worse, animals are dieing, people are going crazy, and the weather patterns are changing drastically.

Wow comparing meteorology with global warming? That's the best you can do? I'm not even going waste my breathe rebuking that, it's pathetic.
Oh my god I had to add something Jbreck are you seriously that stupid? The reason it releases CO2 from the metling of the icecaps, is because the artic region is the only biome that is a CO2 sink. A CO2 sink means it takes in more CO2 then it releases. That CO2 is FROM the pollution that we causes, it doesn't "generate" itself from the glaciers. Wow, this is for you "The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you."

The fact is, we don't know. We all have thoughts,

some thoughts, but no one person is right. There are some solid ideas, though.

how does that make global warming junk it just shows that the poles are melting faster which could mean thats its actually worse than we think it is it doesnt in any way debunk the science of global warming
