Driving home last night I was complaining again about traffic and my friend (yes we car share) said "why dont they just stop selling cars, that would solve everything". I laughed it off and said it was ridiculouse. But is it?

Yeah, we would then have horses and carriages.... we could drag race horse carts... that would rule... I would cheat and get a big donkey and give him steroids... hehe.....

The national ecomomy would collapse, followed shortly by the world economy, then regional wars, profound poverty and choked mass transit systems (no matter HOW well designed they could never handle the working population). How the hell would that 'solve' anything?

What "they" would he be talking about? Would car companies or the people who own stock in those companies be willing to go along with this "plan"? I don't think so.

The idea isn't just ridiculous; it is stupid.
