I currently have an '82 camaro. I plan to sell it either on craigslist.com or to put an ad out in the newspaper. I'll probably get somewhere between $1500-2000 for it. I'm not sure if I should get a car or computer with the money. I haven't been driving for over a year now and I know it's got to be putting stress on the people who give me rides. On the other hand I'm looking to get back into school. I found a great online school. I'll need to get an up to date labtop and then all the programs I need for the courses. Don't get me wrong I'd love to get a car but I also know I wont have this kind of cash to get myself started with school for a long time. Just not sure what the better decision is. What do you think?

Just to make sure everyone knows cuz a few of you were unaware. I'm 24 and I have a steady full time job. I make decent money so saving for either one later wouldn't be that hard. I just don't know which one to get first.

I'd say a car Since you have a job thean you can always save fo the computer. I am the only person in my family with a car, and it is driving me insane!! so many rides, not enough gas money, lol. So I know how they feel. But why don't you drive the camaro? And you said you haven't driven for a year. Hmm. Seems like it's no different if you get a computer. Either way, it's your decision!!

Get yourself a secured card, but not any secured credit card. Some secured credit cards will give you a line of credit equal to twice the money you deposit. So, if you deposit $2,000, your line of credit will be $4,000. You say you make decent money and could easily save for both. So, if you plunk down say $1,000 for a laptop and another $2,000 for a car, you will owe $3,000. Assuming an interest rate of 20%, you will be able to get the $3,000 paid off in exactly 12 months, if you pay $300 per month. At that point, I, personally, would dump the $2,000 car and use the proceeds from the sale of the car to put a down payment on a decent car.

I think that if it were me, I would go for the laptop, fully loaded with what you need
for school. You need to get your education out of the way, get a really good job, then you will have the money for the car. The only thing that you could do is offer
money for gas to those that drive you. You really need to get your schooling. The very best of luck to you. I know that you will make the right decision. : }

right of the bat i thought " CAR!"
but my final decision/advice thingy is to work on your education.
school, education, etc. is the foundation of a successful life and if you live in the US, you would know the government will screw you over if you can't keep up to par on bills, etc. Even middle class is barely getting by in today's economy. So in for long run [[ your future ]], education = career = success = money = CAR, clothes, other pretty stuff, food to eat, shelter, etc. Get where i'm going?

A car is nothing more than a money pit. If you have awesome friends who will drive you, pay them for gas money every now and then, buy them a meal every now and then and save your money. Get yourself an education. Get the computer.

I don't think you will be able to get much of a car for that amount of money. Why don't you just get the computer.

First, get a car, second, get a job, and save your money from your job to get a computer.
