It attaches to your network so that it is accessible from all computers on your network. So if you have a wireless router, you can connect to it.

You can't without buy additional equiment but look at this.
You can now buy an external hard drive that has an ethernet connection which plugs into your router. Fantastic idea as if you are wireless on your laptop the hard drive is plugged into your router and you can access it anywhere in your house.
I have been trying to get my usb printer to print wirelessly and have a usb wireless adapter which in theory may work if I can allocate it an ip address correctly. Everyone is telling me I need a wireless print server so we will see.
Cheapest place I have found for one of these new hard drives is ebuyer. Only found out aout them last week. Well worth a look

Only with extra equipment.
If you want to be able to access the drive as you wander your home, you can make it into a Network Access Storage drive, there are several NAS unit available, I know the D-link G600 has an access point too. There are a few wireless routers that have the ability to add a USB drive as NAS.
