I work in L&D, and the recommended amount to gain is 25-30 pounds.
The least I ever saw full term with a healthy baby was 10 lb.
The most I ever saw full term, healthy was 86 lb. - and this woman started at 110!
I gained 40 [retaining lots of water] with my first and 30 with my second.

I gained a total of 26 lbs. with my last pregnancy. However, within 2 weeks of delivery I had lost all of it plus 20 lbs. I sure hope I do the same with this pregnancy! I'm 22 weeks and have gained 15 lbs. so far, but I'm counting 5 of those pounds as Christmas holiday weight gain. LOL

I'm not really sure I want to answer this question...lol,,I gained alot of weight for a few different reasons..I was 92 lbs. from the beginning and my dr. warned me up front that being under weight going into a pregnancy can actually make you gain more weight because the body absorbs more nutrients.
I personally gained 60 lbs. now 13 months later when I want to get back down to at least 100 lbs. I cannot even break from 115 (my current weight)...the weight will pack on more if you eat unhealthy as well, so my suggestion is to eat healthy, and eat snacks between meals so that you don't "over eat" when it's time for the big meals..

i was a little bit underweight when i got pregnant and i gained about 38 lbs so far (due in 2 days). the majority of that was after i had to stop working at 33 weeks because of early contractions. up intil that point, i had no stretch marks and has gained about 22 lbs or so. after not being on my feet and active all day every day, i gained the rest of the weight verrrrry quickly which unfortunately resulted in stretch marks on my belly because it wasnt gradual.

32 pounds the first time, 27 pounds the second time. The reason for the difference? Juice! I drank fruit juice the first time (the thick, good stuff), and boy did it add on! Juice is a big reason for 'phantom weight gain.'
