My son is 14 weeks old and sleeps all night and day! Its crazy! He sleeps at least 7 hours straight at night then wakes up, eats, then goes back to sleep for like another 3 hours. Last night he was kinda restless and woke up at 3am. I fed him but he only ate about 1oz and fell asleep again and did'nt wake until 8am. He would'nt take his bottle until almost 9am. After he finally ate he fell back asleep until 10:30 woke and played for a while. He ate again at 11:15 and was back asleep at 11:30. Its now after 1pm and there is no sign of him waking any time soon. Is he going through a growth spurt or something? Is this normal? He will probably take at least 2 more naps before he goes to bed tonight.

A newborn may sleep anywhere from 12 to 20 hours of the day. However, babies wake frequently, and rarely sleep for more than three hours in a continuous period.

My baby is a very good sleeper as well. She is 12 weeks, and sometimes will go almost 12 hours at night. And then she is up for only 1- 1 1/2 hour spurts during the day before needing rest again.

The most important thing is that your baby is thriving....growing and gaining weight. Since baby's only grow while they sleep, he could be having a growth spurt as well. As long as he is eating, and again, gaining weight, its OK for him to sleep a lot at this age.

What are you moaning for??? Try having a baby that won't sleep for more than 30 mins in the day and wakes up every 2 hours in the night only to think its playtime at 4am.
She's never slept, how about we swap for a week lol

Good luck he's gorgeous xx

Quite often changes in the weather can make babies and young children more sleepy than usual. The basic rule is that if he's hungry, he'll wake up! If he seems different in any other way tho, like his cry is different, isn't producing as many wet/dirty nappies, seems stiffer or floppier than usual, or anything else you think is odd, you should contact your doctor. Always better to be safe than sorry. Also, if he goes for more than 2-3 days without feeding properly then I'd contact your doctor/health visitor and ask his/her advice, again just to be on the safe side.

A little jealous over here. He could be going through a growth spurt. As long as your baby isn't failing to thrive and seems to be in peaceful bliss enjoy it while you can. Believe me, my daughter(now 2 and half yrs old) had severe colic when she was born and my son still has colic at 12 weeks. I'd much rather have had them sleeping peaceful long hours then deal with colic. You are blessed.

Every baby is different... My first did not sleep at all during the day and my 2nd slept all the time! Count yourself lucky!!! His naps will probably begin to show a pattern between 3 an4 months. Good luck!

Don't complain and enjoy - it will pass :-) Yes he is most likely growing, my baby goes through that too - she would sleep a lot for like four days and then another week almost nothing.
