For everyone in the world, their country is the best. Everyone will find the best in their country, and find it hard to point out the worst. And , the best point some people pick out about their country, is probably the worst in other peoples eyes. For example, people in the US believe they have more freedom than most, if everyone in the world. Whereas people from Europe, Australia believe the US has a controlled media and "strange" foreign policy. Also ,some people believe England is the best country for their history , whereas the country's they colonised have a different opinion.

Number one in what?
Well, I love the United States. However, that does not mean that it is the best at everything. There are serious problems in the United States which other nations are handling better than we are. However, we have more freedoms than most others and there are some things we do better than most.
If there is a number one country it would be Abkhazia – Republic of Abkhazia because that comes first alphabetically.

You could say there is a number one country if you limited this to a particular item--e.g. lowest murder rate, highest GNP, highest defense spending, etc. But in general, being #1 (like beauty) is in the eye of the beholder.
