I've looked at Petco.com, Petsolutions.com, Liveaquaria.com, Petsmart.com......Is there any where else to look at good prices on freshwater aquarium fish?

I do NOT buy my fish from chain stores. I buy my cichlids from fellow hobbyists or from mom&pop stores who are generally hobbyists as well. There, you will recieve better quality fish that would most certainly be in better health. Look around online for local clubs in your area. They're a great way to find fellow hobbyists for new fish, make new friends even! Prices with fellow hobbyists are even tons better.

I agree with something's_fishy your first best bet is a locally owned independent fish store. I also like to buy from club autions and members of large national organizations that breed and sell fish. For example, If I wanted a betta, I would start with International Betta Congress Breeders.

Whatever you do, DO not get your fish from Petland Discounts. Their fish day the next day, and half of them are filled with ICK. I had to learn this the hardway after buying my 3 kois, two of them didn't make it and the ICK spread in the whole tank. Luckily one of them made it.

The best place to get good freshwater fish is Petco, or a neighborhood pet store. If World Class Aqu. has a website, then try them. That's where I mostly buy my fish at and petco.

Aquabid.com is good to search prices from owners and breeders any local fish store is your best bet for healthy fish.

See if your area has an aquarium society and go to their auctions.

A locally owned aquarium store. Especially if they don't used a central filtration system, leave dead fish floating in the tanks and quarantine their fish to guarantee healthiness.

Anywhere that looks like its clean and well care for. I would avoid Wal-Mart, PetCo and PetSmart. Support your local fish stores.
