Will this administration ever do anything for the refugees or will they continue to ignore the slaughter of over 200,000 people guilty of being the wrong color and religion.

Great well thought out answers. At least some of them. When I said position, it is OK to come to congress and say are position is to do nothing, or embargo, or troops or whatever we want to do. I think it is not fair to compare Iraq and Sudan/Chad/Darfor but it seems to give people partisan fodder to do so. I asked the question because over 3 weeks ago the administration told congress they would return in 2 weeks with a further definition of position regarding Sudan.

Our position has been the same for over 3 years, we were the first to call it genocide, over the UN's objection, and we've been calling for action, not more talk, for 3 years. Bolton was very outspoken about this. As usual, see Rwanda, the UN is talking not acting.

BTW: Sudan has oil, it's the 3rd largest oil producer in Africa.

Why do you people lie? Is it ignorance or partisanship?

Why don't the dems explain why we should leave one civil war we helped create to be in another civil war we tried to prevent?

EDIT: I wish you explained yourself better initially. First, it is fair to compare Iraq and Sudan. We have more business in Iraq given the fact we broke it. Second, the reasons articulated for leaving Iraq would apply equally to Sudan - our troops should not be sacrificed for another country's civil war.

If your point was to ask whether the Administration should follow through on their promise to come back to Congress, then yes. I suspect they are a week late b/c they have a lot on their plate. Nonetheless, the administration has taken a strong position on this crisis for several years now. We currently supply most of the food supply there, I can't imagine changing that. I'm not sure what an embargo would do besides piss of China. Still, something should be done, but why does everyone expect us to do it and not the UN? This is a prime example of the damned if you do damned if you don't problem with the US - if we intervene, we're bad (Bosnia, Iraq, etc.), if we don't, we're bad (Rwanda [we were], Sudan).

I think holbrook and Tired o nailed it. The same thought comes into my mind every time I see a "Save Darfur" bumper sticker on some libs car.

So what your saying is you want the USA to get involved?
Did congress ask the administration what their position was on Darfor?
Did Congress ask the UN what 'their' position was on Darfor?

The US position on it is very clear. The US has been pushing for action for years... and the UN keeps balking.

I know you're not saying that we should just ignore the UN and *GASP* unilaterally do something are you?

I don't understand you people...you say you do not want us involved in a civil war in Iraq, but you want us to get into a HUGE civil war in Dufar...that makes no sense what so ever...I bet if we went to Dufar and lost a few hundred soldiers, you would be the first to blame Bush for going in there and calling for our retreat...am I right?

Darfor is part of a sovereign nation, we have, and should have no position.
Americans are spending billions and having many killed in trying to straighten out a lot of the problems of the world. We get bashed from the ones who should be helping us, and even sometimes from the ones we're helping.

How about that being someone else's problem? The minute we started to do anything about it the Libs would get their panties in a wad and start demonstrating so I'd just as soon save us all the hystrionics.

Is there oil in Darfur? If we can figure out a way for big business to benefit, maybe they will do something.
