That's for their 75/24 Mountain ("pack") Howitzers, (also known as the "Indian Mountain Gun"), right? These 900+ guns, dating from 1971, are in the Reserve Towed Artillery, and will be phased out in favor of the 105 mm light field gun and 155mm/52 caliber towed, wheeled and tracked howitzers out as part of the "Field Artillery Rationalization Plan".

"In the wake of the 1962 Chinese aggression, for our hardpressed gunners defending our mountain borders, ARDE, jointly with the Ordnance Factories developed and produced 75/24 Pack Howitzer and a whole family of ammunition viz., HE, Smoke and Illuminating." I don't know about the Indian Army specifically, but any modern artillery will use a variety of munitions: high explosive, armor piercing, time fused, anti-aircraft, possibly even propaganda leaflets, as well as practice dummies. Namaste.
