The lottery is a tax on people who can't do basic math. Only play it with money that you can afford to throw out the window of your car while driving down the highway. You're about as likely to win big as you are to have the money thrown out by the guy in front of you blow into your car.

Yes... we bought all three tickets - California Lottery, Mega-Millions, and Powerball (California just joined that scam). Were we to win the Powerball - $600 Million ($400 million after taxes)... it would be unreal :P Seriously, if you took that as payments over 40 years... it would be $10 million a year... or $190,000 a week !!

when you find the exepected valuation over the risk formulation its like a thousanth of a penny so no lottery not good. buy stock and bonds instead.
