Do you think a person can really love someone but doesn't know it? Doesn't realize it? Denies it? Maybe he/she doesn't want to admit it to himself/herself for various reasons. So they spend life with someone they don't love that much but it was their choice, again, out of various reasons. What do you think?

It very much depends on the personality.
If you have a weak person, then denial is the only way of preserving what you have.
Also it could be a thing of devotion and commitment.
Maybe that person feels love more intense and deeply and considers most of his actions towards you as being casual - whereas you would be interpreting them as something more than just a friendly gesture.

Its really difficult to answer without having full insight.
Sorry for that.

Have you ever heard of people that lie but pass a lie detector test? It's a similar concept. If you tell yourself something so many times (in this case, that you don't love a person), then eventually you begin to confuse your own beliefs and start thinking that the lie is the truth. So after some time, confusion in your mind makes you believe that you don't love someone even if you do. But if you don't love someone (or if you do really, but make yourself believe that you don't) then most likely you won't want to spend your life with that person. People that use this technique of denying love are often those that are getting out of a relationship and don't want the heartache that comes with it so they tell themselves they never loved the person to begin with. People that don't love someone but want to be in a relationship with them would do the opposite and tell themselves that they did love the person or else the actions would be self-defeating.

I definately believe this...a lot of ppl deny love for many different reasons. Have you seen the movie Bridges of Madison County with Clint Eastwood n Glen Clouse? Exellent! A MUST see movie for anyone pondering this question! It's all in there...rent it!

Oh yes! This is quite common, actually.

Someone can love a person, but not value love as important to them.

The other reasons why they are committed to someone else are more important to them than love. It is best for them to continue denying love and stay consistent with their value system. It maintains their sanity.

Love is a 'Choice'. You can either choose to love someone or not. Infatuation, crushes, idealization......these are not love. So in regards to your question. Yes. YOU can CHOOSE not to love someone.
