what does that mean? i hear it in a lot of song lyrics and i have always wondered about it. i know it had to do with flirting...i think. i dunno. help a girl out. thanks

My own experience, 2 possible answers.
1st: the girl is getting herself ready for a GOOD time because she is putting lipstick on and dabbing it with a napkin, (typically this includes a phone number on the back) Her lips as a kiss and phone number, Get it?
2nd: the infamous lipstick on the collar that a married man does not want his wife to find so he wipes it off onto napkins and leaves them at the bar.
So next time you read this lyric and wonder, ask the question about what the song is about and one of these scenarios is probably true. Good luck with song writing and be sure to read some poetry of Robert Browning.

...hmmm, lipstick on a guy's collar more than lipstick napkins, I think.
