Absolutely. More and more officers are beginning to speak out, again. He will only listen to those commanders who are repeating the administration line. Sadly, although the majority of citizens appear to believe we need to pull out there are still large numbers who are falling for the "if we don't fight them there we'll have to fight them here" routine. Let's face it folks, just because we are fighting in Iraq doesn't mean that people are not planning to strike us here again. We heard the same tired line during the war in Viet Nam. We left and they did not follow.

The domino never fell and it won't because we leave Iraq. The majority of the violence in Iraq is a sectarian struggle to control Iraq.

The major problem with polls is the way questions are worded. If you oppose an open ended strategy, the pollsters claim you want out now. Polls can be made out to say whatever the pollsters want them to say. Besides, even if Bush "listened" to the troops, it doesn't mean that he would do what they wanted, after all, he "listened" to his generals before the war and fired those he disagreed with.

I think he should talk to the officers, not the troops, because the troops only see their small area of responsibility and the officers would have more of the overall picture.

Above all he should NOT listen to members of Congress!!

Hmmm I doubt the honesty of your pollster.

I just talked to a group of soldiers this weekend that were on a fishing trip. They said moral was very high and they were behind the mission.

the troops role is to take orders and execute those orders. not to question what they are doing there or what course should be taken. the policy makers and war planners decide that and no opinion pole will effect those decisions.

yes if you care about your fellow American and think following the philosophies of our founding fathers, would make America stronger.

Through the chain of command, definitely. Via media pollsters, not so much.

What Bush says motivates him and what actually motivates him are not at all connected.
