First, wait until the total 'surge' troop numbers are in country. To date there are only about 50% of the 'surge' troops deployed. It will be mid summer before all are in place. Then start your three month count. And there has been very good results thus far. Don't hang your hat on casualty numbers, that is generally no indicator of operational or tactical success.

Not too well. One half of the troops are already there, but deaths are up. More of our troops were killed in April than in any of the previous months of 2007. Bush is now saying that we will not be able to assess how the surge is going until September at the earliest.

Actually its not 3 months later.
The troops for the surge aren't all even in Iraq yet.
They won't all be there untill the middle of June.
So shouldn't you actually wait untill the extra troops are in Iraq ???
