a yeast infection is common in pregnancy. I had it, you can buy the 7 day cream to clear it up. the little marks could be stretch marks once you are farther along it'll be easier to determine if thats what they are. if you want another ultrasound you will more than likely have to pay for it unless its medically necessary. as for your next visits the doc. will just measure you make sure everything is going okay check the heart beat, once you are close to your due date they may check to see if you are dilated yet. good luck and have fun with your baby boy!

Hi there and congrats on your pregnancy.

First of all, I would not get another ultrasound unless there was a serious medical reason. It is an invasive procedure and yes, insurance only covers 1 if even that (mine didn't cover any at all).

Why do you need an ultrasound? The doctor can give you a pretty good idea of your due date and as long as you are fine and baby's heartbeat is steady there's no reason for them to be using ultrasound waves on the baby.

Most people say "ultrasound is perfectly safe - it's not radiation" but the fact is (and you can look this up) that there are many studies that show ultrasound waves do have affect on the fetus. What we don't know is how much or to what extent.

So why take the risk?

About yeast infection, it's a fungus and more common in pregnancy. You'll know you have it by itching down there, or possibly some thick white discharge (almost like cottage cheese ....weird). It can be easily treated with OTC medication.

In your next visits, the doc will listen to the heartbeat, measure your tummy and check your weight. They will also want to know what pregnancy symptoms you are having and may suggest tips for relief if any are bothersome or uncomfortable. There may be a Group B strep test in your third trimester and possibly some routine blood work and a glucose tolerance test.

Best of luck!

An ultrasound is a NON-invasive procedure. You will need to check with your insurance carrier to see if they cover it. My guess is no, unless it is medically necessary. I am high-risk and had about 8 in my last pregnancy.

It sounds like you may be getting stretch marks. You will probably have your glucose test on your next visit. They will have you drink the glucola and draw your blood one hour later. This screens for gestational diabetes. All the "normal" stuff will happen that visit too.

If you get a yeast infection..you will know it. They cause burning, itching, and a cottage cheese like discharge. They are not pleasant, but easily treated.

Congratulations on your son!

I'm 24 weeks and my bub feels very strong and active, kicking away on and off throughout the day. My midwife said the more movement the better...as baby is active and healthy. I can't help but smile when I feel her kick, and I wish you a smooth delivery and congratulations.
