Dear Friends, I am 35 weeks pregnant. I had an ultrasound two days ago. Dr told me that my baby is girl because she could not see penis and instead see labia. She told me however it is possible sometime penis is hiden between feet and is up. Therefore she advised me do not buy clothes for a girl. do you have any experince in this regard? it is possible Dr has done a mistake? Is it possible to say wrong in week 35?
In all of previous ultrasounds (3 times), technecians could not see baby gender becasue of the baby position. I really like to have a boy.
Thanks

It is DEFINATELY possible... Matter of fact I was told 3 different times for different reasons that I was having a boy.

First doctor guessed because apparently boys heart beats and growth are different from girls... So he guessed BOY Which yes it was a guess, but when I asked the nurse how many times he'd been wrong, she told me once. LOL.

Second, had a nurse tell me that because I had no weight gain and because of how I looked she "guessed" boy.

But the clintcher was the Ultra sound when they asked if we wanted to know what it was, she told us BOY and even pointed to the little weenie.

Well Low and behold guess what I had - Imagine my surprise when the doctor holds this baby up and I see NO WEENIE.

Apparently the first two were just literal guesses, but when I asked the doctor about the ultra sound, he said that apparently the baby had been sucking on her thumb and just when the picture was snaped, the baby moved their hand down on her stomach with the thumb still pointed up.

All I can say is DO NOT PLAN FOR ANYTHING.

But also DONT feel disapointed when it does turn out to be a girl. Babies can feel the disappointment and emotional changes in you, and they react to how you feel.

I think they always give a warning when they call a baby a girl, a penis can always be hidden. Everyone I've known whose been prengnant with a girl has been told the same thing, most have been told anywhere from week 16 to week 30. All have been girls. Like I said, a penis can be hidden; however, if he is certain he saw a labia it's pretty safe to say it's a girl. Also, 35 weeks is fairly far along & would allow the ultrasound to be more accurate.

It's always possible to make a mistake. At this point... you should just wait and see what happens. The doctor could be wrong, the ultrasound pictures are just that... pictures. And not very good ones at that! They're interpreting they see the best that they can, but if baby isn't co-operating, then it's really hard to tell if it's a he or she. You've only got a few weeks left. Just hold on to the hope that it could still be a boy! :-)

ultrasounds can be wrong....I knew a person who wanted a girl and after 4 boys she was told at her ultrasound she was FINALLY having the girl she dreamed about. She didn't fully believe it so she had another ultrasound run which also seemed to believe she was having a girl so she went crazy buying pink outfits and painting a pink nursery and was all happy waiting for her girl to finally arrive, but when she gave birth it was a boy. The ultrasound techs had guessed wrong. NEVER trust what they tell you.....understand that alot of times ultrasound results are guessed based on what they see or think they see or don't see. It's not precise by any means.

I'm an Ultrasound tech and can tell you that yes, it is possible that we can tell the sex as early as 14 weeks but take it with a grain of salt. Internal genitalia don't usually form until 10 weeks, and the external genitalia aren't formed until 14 weeks. Before this time, the genitalia appear raised (giving the false impression of a penis) called the "phallus" and most techs won't give you a definite answer until 18-20 weeks.

Of course it is possible to make a mistake. Ive heard of it happening. During my 30 week ultrasound (my only one) the doctor found the walls of the vagina. It looked like a little hamburger. He said he was 100% positive it was a girl, and he was right. I think he got a really clear picture.

Kovasmom is right, you should be happy you are having a girl. It doesn't seem like you want it to be true. My doctor did a ultrasound at 37 weeks, she said she saw the labia, took pictures of it for me and said it is 100% that it is a girl.

I would not call it a mistake. The baby can change its' position especially in the early days of pregnancy and depends on how the baby curl up inside mommy's womb. There are mothers who just want to know if baby is alright and she does not want to know about the sex because it does not matter much unless you are from a traditional family where emphasis is put on boys.

You will not be having a BOY

Please get used to being the mother of a little girl

I have 3 boys, it was obvious they all had a penis,

if they don't have a penis then its a girl.

Since you don't believe that its a girl and want a boy, then maybe it is best for you to wait and buy the clothes once she is born then you will love her and be happy she is a girl,

PS I like the name Neera for a girl.

Yes it's very possible....... My first child had all the 'signs' of being a Boy, thought they saw a little penis on ultrasound,(38wks) and everything. When I delivered her, the doctor even said 'it's a Bo...GIRL!!!' he had to look twice, and just laughed, and said that technology wasn't advanced as we thought!!! LOL

Just enjoy what's left of your pregnancy..........buy unisex clothes, not too many..cuz you'll get sic of green, yellow and white.

Good Luck
