Only possible way was for France and Belgium to accept Wilson's 14 points at the end of WW1. Without the demand for reperations and a "war guilt" clause placed on Germany after the First World War, the Nazis never would have gathered the political momentum they needed to gain power in 1933. No Nazis in power, no Holocaust.

Some could argue that France and Britain should have done more to oppose Hitler or actually gone to war when he began breaking the Versailles Treaty, but the treaty itself was too harsh on Germany, and that was Hitler's weapon. There's also the fact that even if they had acted in a much firmer fashion and much earlier, there is still the possibility that Hitler would have speed up his "Final Solution". Most of the official killings began when it became clear that the Nazis would eventually lose the war. So if France and Britain invaded Germany in 38, either after the Anschlus with Austria or over the Sudentenland, it is still possible that a smaller "Holocaust" would have occured.

The only way that the Holocaust could have been prevented was for a fairer peace to be made after World War I, one that did not give the Nazis the political fuel they needed to gain power in Germany.

"This is not a treaty. It is an armistice for twenty years." - Field Marshall Ferdinand Foch, French General, Allied Commander In Chief during WWI, commenting on the Versialles Treaty

if the population of most countries in Europe had responded to Hitler's policies the way Italians, Serbs, Danes, Bulgarians, Finns did, the Holocaust may not have happened.

If britain and france and the US had stepped in and stopped germany before they became too power hungry WW2 as a whole could have been stopped and the holocaust never would have happened.

if hitler had been allowed into art school when he was younger ww2 might never have happened. etc etc

Maybe if the state of Israel was formed after WW1, like it was suggested by the Balfour Declaration, there would have been somewhere for Jews to go when Hitler got stupid & violent?

IF ordinary people would have objected, maybe it could have been stopped. But they all ignored it because it wasn't targeted at them.
