i have an final exam coming up and i'm reviewing my past tests...this was the question on the first test and I put the answer as 1.77 inches, and i got it marked right, but i don't know how in the hell it is 1.77 inches now....if you could show your work on here for me, cuz i'm thinking the answer should've been .0177

4.5 meters = 450 cm

450 cm( 1 in/2.54 cm) = 177.165 inches

there are 39.37 inches=1 meter
therefore 39.37 x 4.5=177.165 inhes your 1.77 may have been misunderstood as 177 so breathe a sigh of relief

1 meter = 39.37 inches
1/2 meter = 19.685 inches
4 meters =157.48

157.48+19.685 = 177.165meters

It's the number of cm divided by 2.54, which is 177 inches.

(1) meter = 39.37 inches

so 4.5 meters would be 177.16 inches.

Your teaches must of overlooked the placement of the decimel point.

1 metre = 39.3701 inches

So 4.5 metres implies that the answer would be 4.5 times as much.
So 4.5 metres = 39.3701 x 4.5 = 177.17inches
