We all seem to have a definition of life. In most of the cases, I believe, it stems from our experience in the first place and from our character in the long run. Will it not be a fascinating collection ?

Life is not one thing to me nor is it a definition. Let me list: It is a lone balloon in the sky that you just happen to see, it is the smell of rain, it is the dark clouds that bring a fresh crisp wind, it is a walk around the block, it is a picture of your parents when they were young that has never been seen before, it is a funeral procession, it is a homeless person on the sidewalk pushing his over flowing shopping cart to the nearest recycling plant to get some money for his cans, it is a dip in the ice cream tub when you are on a diet, it is waking up early and finding that you have two more hours to sleep before you need to get up for work and it is the relief that those two hours bring, it is cutting your finger, it is hugging your child, it is watching your grandparents grow old together, it is the drug addict pushing in the needle, it is the alcoholic struggling with their 12 steps, it is a deep breath, it is you, it is I, it is.

For a scientist Life is a condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally. Broader definitions of life may also include theoretical non-carbon-based life and other alternative biology.
For a philosopher life has different meaning. You can go to Sigmund Freud (1932) Lecture XXXV A Philosophy of Life http://www.marxists.org/reference/subject/philosophy/works/at/freud.htm

LIfe is not to live but to feel. Feel the essence of soorow, joy, despair, hope, failure, success, loneliness, companionship, betrayal, loyalty, ruthlessness, kindness, ignorance, acceptance, stubborn-ness, forgiveness, jealousy, pride, anger, tolerance, impatience, patinence, hatred, above all Love.... Lifes about actually feeling and learning from each and everything that life can offer. You feel the bad part and learn to be good, you feel tha good part and again learn to be good. A person with no feelings is as good as dead.

Feel the life, learn, and identify yourself as an integral part of this beautiful creation of the almighty, and try to prove yourself worthy of this identity.

All the best...

:-)

The purpose of this life is to be a testing ground for eternity (the TRUE life to come) and only those who have placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will pass. All others fail-do not pass go, do not collect $200. In fact the test is SO easy, most will try to make it hard, and thereby fail!

Ever fallen off a log?

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

life is just a carrier of the soul in its path of evolution. the soul is changing always. it is like the making of a diamond form the rock. after so many lives the soul will start to shine more and more and these souls we see as great people like Gandhi or Buddha etc. or not so famous who we meet some times with a great mind. so just remember that we are on a path of transformation.

Life is what you make of it.If you are a good person and do good deeds and are generally a positive person you will get more good things in your life. It goes the opposite way if you are a corrupt and vile person. So the moral is to be the best person you can be yourself and to others and life will be beautiful.

Living is a chalenge to be happy, which is very difficult.
Happines does not exist by itself, being a by-product of the things we cultivate in ourselves to offer to others.
Whenever I know I am responsible for a happy smile in someone's face, I feel happy. And making the difference makes my life worthwhile.

life is buetiful despite its trials and trivalations. Should not be abused must be treated like a flower. the experience builds up as you go on but if you have done your bit for society on the whole you sleep with contenment. One should also be thankful if we have come with a religious bent of mind.
