Because people do think of themselves a bit, and like to do what feels right to them. Some call it a kind of Relativism.
As regards God - It is believed that God made people with a brain so that they can think and reason, and make choices. It is up to people to determine who they will listen to, or if they will listen at all, as to what is most appropriate, even where sex is concerned.

It is all genetics - As the fetus was developing the X chromosome didn't want to be with the Y chromosome and found another X chromosome that it liked. Result - gay guy.

maybe, and this is only a theory (but what else can there be, no one can speak for God - no one!), but maybe evolutionarily speaking, there is over population and God made people gay so they are more careful/less careless about having children.
