We're being ripped off. And the Dems / Repubs are doing NOTHING about it ! Maybe we need a third party in the US ?

They are much too high. They have gone up 150% since 2000. Wages have gone up 15%? 20%? The oil companies are fleecing us. They have such control over the government, they are stopping the development of alternative fuels, except for ethanol, which is a joke. The corn growers just want higher prices. If we had leaders that actually gave a damn, they'd be pressuring the car companies. We have the technology to make FAR more fuel efficient cars, but they still produce big trucks and SUV's in large numbers. We could build far better public transportation and rail networks, but we don't. People have to actually put pressure on the government to do anything. Griping about prices will accomplish nothing.

I think that the prices are too high, but I don't see why everyone is complaing about them. Even though everyone agrees that the prices are too high, complaining isn't going to do anything. Average people can't do anything to change the gas prices and complaing only seems to make the problem worse. Everyone realizes the problem, why keep mentioning it? It only fuels the fire. Unless you are someone envolved in politics who has control over the prices, then you have no reason to complain about prices, you are not going to change a thing, get used to it, because the prices are going to stay this way for a long time. I realize that it's not a good thing, but I'm a big enough person to accept it.

Prices are high because consumption is up. MPG avg. on new cars has fallen because the consumer is willing to buy more SUVs with lower MPG. Refining capacity is nearly used up and the same people buying new SUVs don't want new refineries near them. Nothing stopping people demanding and buying CNG fueled vehicles or other alternatives. I drive about 15,000 miles per year on two vehicles that are high MPG cars. Gas price increase not an issue. However, a co-worker started car pooling at $3 per gallon rather than drive his truck. Supply and demand is as healthy as ever. Regulating the industry would create adverse results whereas a free market is more effective and efficient at resolving pricing issues.

All the complaining won't change things. I filled up a few days ago in CA. It was $3.30 a gallon and it was the lowest octane. The thing that is stupid, there isn't any place near where I live to fill up with ethanol. I believe my car is capable of using that but if it isn't available then I don't have a choice. I know the price will just keep going up and one day it probably will be $5.00 per gallon.

I live in the Czech Republic and the price of gas here is about equal to $6.50 a gallon. You have cheap gas prices in comparison. Too bad auto makers can't sell you the sort of cars that are sold here. Ask your Congressman that one! Cars get about 60 miles to the gallon here, and are fast and reliable.

Well its a pain in the butt because out here in So Cal i think the prices are the highest in the nation, so i think we really need to start cutting are selfs away from the oil companies and start to look for other ways of fuel. You know we are going to run out of gas sometime in my lifetime

End speculation. End government taxation on gas. The government puts no money into exploration or recovery ,but they get a percentage of every gallon you buy. if you think oil companies are making huge profits, that's nothing compared to the government. for them it is all profit.

Today, on Long Island, NY, $3.18 a gallon. From what I hear, even more in Cali. You know I always liked horses, very friendly and reliable. I could keep one in my yard. Plus hay is only pennies a pound. Makes a great pet and no need for oil changes and heavy maintenance. I'll call my first horse "Caddy."

It's all a social segregation thing. What face is on your Bill? that's all that matters. A big face for Bill. If you are lost in what my loose tongue has squirted out, you can blame the slick Bill oil.
