why is it when anybody tries a new food type, it always 'tastes like chicken'

Simple......It doesn't !!!
Five good reasons why people SOMETIMES say that a new food 'tastes like chicken' ;
1. It may be because they have actually just eaten chicken.
2. It may be because the taste of the new food is rather indistinct - mild, bland and lacking in texture (which IS also true of chicken)
3. It may be because their taste-buds are not well defined or sensitive.
4. It may be because they have a limited vocabulary or imagination.
5. It is usually because they have not sampled a diverse variety of culinary delicacies.

Good question and I wish my answer could match that kind of quality but I guess not so here it is anyway. Perhaps it's because they have such untrained palates that they can't tell the difference between meat and poultry.

I beg to differ but my sprouts didn't taste like chicken, they tasted more like floating silk on a current of freshly squeezed happiness. MMmmmmmmm, lovely.

cause chicken has such a wide range of tastes, so its the easiest for people to relate something to.
