I get medium to severe cramping, irregularity (periods last more than 7 days on average, but the flow is only very heavy for the first four to five days, then it gets really, really light), very little pain from bowel movements, and every several months I'll get painful urination (most likely due to a urinary tract infection).

My cramping is almost always bad to the point to where I WANT to go to bed, but if I was forced to go somewhere, I wouldn't be groaning in pain. I'd get through it and pretend I don't have them. My mom said she used to get REALLY bad cramps at my age, and that I'm totally fine. She said she would get periods just like I do and that she never had any serious problems. My aunt is the only one in my family who has Endometriosis (my dads sister). She was infertile. But my mom had five kids, she was very fertile.

Is this normal for me? And if you do consider the possibility of me having Endo, isn't that associated with back pain? I don't get back pain at all...

Your periods sound fairly normal to me. Moderate to severe cramping and heavy bleeding for 4 days describe my periods, too, with a few days after of very light bleeding or brownish discharge.

My periods have been this way since I was 14 years old and I'm 29 now. It's totally normal.

So, no, it doesn't sound like you have endo at all. Endo is associated with symptoms like back pain, and chronic pelvic pain throughout the month, fatigue and consiptation, as well as irregular periods that are extremely painful before and during.

I started when I was very young like yourself and found that I had the same problems. Most women that I have spoken to that started at a younger age seem to have strong cramps and heavier cycles.

I wouldn't worry about it. My suggestion is drink lots of water especially during your period. Once you are older I would suggest birthcontrol because it regulates your cycle and helps reduce cramps. That's what I ended up doing.

Drink something with caffiene in it. What makes menstrual pills work so well is the caffiene in them. Also, if you have extremely bad cramps, ask your mom about going on the pill. Doctors often prescribe to moderate heavy and/or painful periods. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
