If Dustin Christopher is okay
You can call the child Dusty or Chris
I use my middle name, a lot of people do

For a girl
Krystal Danielle
Hayley Elizabeth
Christine Grace
Ava Isabelle
Katelyn Betsy
Justine Krista
Morgan Jordan

Congratulations

This child will be challenged enough in life.
His mom and dad aren't married.
His mom needs to stay in school or go back to school because she appears to be somewhat illiterate . She is going to need an education in order to get a job and support this child.

So in answer to your question.... Dustin Christopher is a nice name but if you don't like it and you are a single mom you can name that child anything you want. Dad may not stay in the picture then you'd be sorry you named the kid Dustin.

You will have to live with the name you choose so it should be something that the 2 of you agree on. If there is a specific reason why he likes the name, could you use it as a middle name? Or you could use 2 middle names. Or if he insists on dustin as a 1st name, you can call your child by his middle name. Or give him a J middle name and call him DJ- hope that helps!

Maybe you could suggest something similar to Dustin like Justin or Austin. Austin Christopher sounds really nice!

How about instead of Dustin, you name the baby Destin? You know the girl name would be Destiny and the boys name Destin? My nephew named his son this and everyone just adores the name.

I'm sure if you both talk it over, you'll work it out. A name is really important, and is a choice that everyone should agree on. Here's my "2 cents":

Boys:
Julian Patrick
Vincent Aaron
Dominic Andrew

Girls:
Georgia Lynn
Mikayla Jane
Audrie Marie

Congratulations, and I hope everything works out for you and yours.

My husband's name is Dustin and he's always been called Dusty. He got teasted over Dusty a lot.. he got called everything "Dusty road, dusty trails, dusty furniture" etc... But, he's a grown up and still goes by dusty and it suits him. Kids grow into their names.
