the facts are always the best to use... it's hard to argue with the truth

I've been known to make stuff up, but only temporarily and just to see how believable I am. But I always come clean very quickly ("I was just teasing you") and try and stick to the facts, because if I don't, then it's more challenging for me to remember whatever I made up. Making stuff up (though fun at times) isn't being authentic, and besides, I have enough trouble remembering real stuff much less some make-believe assertion.

One thing I've learned is important - not to say hurtful things about someone in the heat of an argument, even if I believe them to be facts. In winning an argument, sometimes nuance is everything. And sometimes, "winning" an argument - even if I have all my facts straight - isn't the best approach to take.

Use real facts, if you're known for making stuuf up, no one takes you seriously, and people lose respect for you. Whether it's a fight with a spouse, or someone at work, don't make stuff up, what are you seven?? :)

The facts mam just the facts. It usually doesn't matter. Most people don't listen to you anyhow once they have their minds made up.

Any fact I throw out is real, at least to me.
