I recently moved and my dryer does not tumble but it does heat up. It is an old unit and I was wondering if it's worth fixing. The units are in a small closet and the dryer is mounted ablove the washer which has been replaced. Is it possible to replace only the dryer, I cannot seem to find any the are not part of a stackable unit. Can anyone help?

I just had the same problem recently, and it was around $100 to replace the belt. It would probably be less if your old belt just came loose, and can be replaced with no new parts. Sears did the work for me.

A word of caution - be sure no unsuspecting person turns the dryer on without the belt. It's an terrible fire hazard.

There are only a couple of units that are replaceable on the top so my answer is no. They are generally harder to work on being stacked but they are repairable. The fact that the unit heats up tells me that the motor is ok becuase one of the power "legs" goes through the motor and then to the heating element. Sounds like a belt issue, or roller. Worth fixing at any rate.

Most likely a belt either came off or broke during the move. Shouldn't be too big a deal to replace the belt. good luck
