Easter is believed by some to be a pagan holiday that Constantine christianized. The name may come from the goddess Ishtar (also known as Easter and Ashtoreth), and eggs and rabbits are both tradtional pagan fertility symbols. There are many articles online with different theories, but one of the most controversial and interesting is linked below.

Easter means different things to different people. Christians mark this day as the day to celebrate the supposed raising of Christ from the dead and his alleged ascension into heaven.
However, the spring season and Easter was a holiday long before Christians used it in their own religion. It was the celebration of the Spring equinox and other religions used it for other celebrations of rebirth.

Easter celebrates the magical resurrection or return to life of the crucified Hebrew rebel Jesus.
Problem with this is that at least one of the apostles didn't recognize the resurrected Jesus - he is remembered by Christian followers by the use of the derogatory term Doubting Thomas.
Bunnies & eggs are pagan symbols of springtime fertility rituals that the Christian church rolled into its celebrations of Easter in order to bring in more followers.

Easter is actually a celebration of the lord. 3 Days after getting put on the cross, he rose from the dead and gave forgiveness to man kind.

You see... Jesus died on the cross on Good Friday and He rose again on Easter. And don't ask about the name.

Jesus Christ died for our sins, and he died on the cross on Good Friday. Then there was Saturday, and then he rose from the grave on Sunday. That's when Easter is.
