Like the lead acid batteries in gas-only cars, the NiMH battery is recycled. Toyota, for instance, has placed a phone number to call and a $200 bounty on each car battery to make sure that they are sent back in to be recycled.

They are 100% recyclable.

The dealer would have to change them and he would be forced to recycle them. I'm sure there is an OSHA, or EPA law on the books about it. good luck
