It really depends on why you are having the lap surgery. I had it in December for ovarian cysts and possible endo. The surgery was supposed to reduce my pain (I have horrible cramps everyday all day from cysts and hidden endo) but the pain went away for about a month. Pain came back in March, and have started on Lupron Depot for 6 months to start my AF cycle over and reduce scarring. A lot of people have said it has helped them, especially if you are unblocking tubes. Good luck! It's not as bad as it seems. The first day is the worse, and as long as you have strong pain meds, you'll be fine. I didn't even have any shoulder pain from the gas bubbles. I had mine done on a Thursday and went back to work on Monday.

It helped for me. Hubby and I tried to conceive for almost 10 years. I had laparascopy with HSG done in January 2000. Doctors said they found nothing wrong and I had 1 in 2,000,000 odds of getting pg on our own. I was confirmed pg in May 2000 and our daughter was born Feb 2001. The recovery from lap was not bad, some stomach muscle soreness, but its basically "bandaid" surgery now, with one incision in belly button and one either on stomach or at bikini line. I spent a few days taking it easy, and was back on the road driving truck within the week. I wish you best of luck!

I have had one being a surrogate mom and it was not all that painful. It greatly depends on your tolerance for pain. I would and probably will do it again for another surrogacy in the future. Good Luck
