Other people made a really good point that Peter can just be near people and use their powers and Sylar has to kill people to get them BUT I thought Peter could only use those powers when he was around people who had them (because when the glass went in his head, he couldn't heal until Claire pulled it out and was near him).
Sylar can use all powers, all the time once he kills someone.
So Sylar is probably more powerful on his own.
When Peter and Sylar are together, Peter will absorb the powers Sylar has and they are equal.
Although Sylar can probably use them better. Remember when Peter was being "trained" by the invisible man to use his powers? Sylar has had more practice.

Peter. Now that he has been near Sylar, he will have absorbed all of his abilities, plus he has the talents of those Sylar has not killed (invisibility, flying, healing, etc.) Plus, since Sylar has to kill in order to gain his power, he is always on his own. Peter has the support of the heroes around him...nobody would have pulled a piece of glass from Sylar's head to save him.

Peter would have to be since he has all of Sylar's powers plus those of every other hero he's ever come into contact with. Sylar has to kill the person and eat their brain (or whatever he does).

I find that the Peter is always more powerful. According to Sylar's mother, Peter is responsible for Sylar.

Id say Peter.. Peter absorbs peoples powers just by being near them... Sylar has to kill the person in order to absorb that persons power... We can only hope that Sylar doesnt kill Peter, otherwise Sylar wont need to kill anymore...

I think Peter. Sylar gets everyone's powers by killing them. Peter absorbs their powers just by being close to them, so Peter should be able to absorb all of Sylar's powers also. Just a thought.

Although their abilities seem equal, Sylar has to go to a lot more effort to even gain abilities from others with powers. Peter just has to be in proximity. I'd say that gives him a definite edge.

I think they are both pretty powerful, however, Peter can regenerate unlike Sylar, so Peter has the upperhand :)

Sylar
He seems to have more control over his abilities, whereas Peter's gotten by on a lot of luck so far. As the show goes on, though, Peter will probably pull ahead as the all powerful one.

Peter. All he has to do is be NEAR another Hero.
Sylar has to kill them to acquire the other Heroes powers.
