it is a good size

Everything is a trade off. Size against price. It is a good idea to get a larger hard drive if you plan on adding a lot of software to your computer, or if you have a lot of personal files like MP3 music files and photographs. The average user can get by with a 8 to 10GB hard drive. Some people will never use more than 3 or 4GB. Then people who do a lot of graphic artwork or record a lot of MP3 music will use over 30GB.

Also consider that Windows 95/98/NT all use a .SWP file which is used as virtual memory so that a percentage of your hard drive will always be inaccessible to you. This space is usually very small (like 256MB). If you have a 15GB hard drive you will only show it being 13.6 GB in Windows. The reason for this is because the disk has a partition that uses some of the space as well as being formatted, which also uses some of the disk space. Also, some disk manufacturers measure a GB as exactly 1,000MB which is not "exactly" accurate. When the manufacturer measures space this way, a 15GB hard drive will be short by 24MB times 15 totaling 360MB short to begin with.

250 GB, if it's fast enough for your usage should be great. Good luck with your drive.

It would hold a whole lot of data.

The average coming in computers today is 80 to125 GB. So that is larger than average. You may want to check the documentation for your computer. Not all computers can handle a drive that large. You might have to partition it into two sections (A C drive where you would install Windows and other programs and a D drive for holding your music, vids, pictures, etc.)

250 gig
Its ok yet its nothing to brag about

these days of highspeed downloading
I can fill that drive up in no time flat..

so don't get your hopes up thinkin its going to last
forever and ever space wise.

between movies music and game roms
and os installs that drive would be low low on space
in a week.

bottom line anyone that knows
about downloading knows I am right

good movies are 700 meg and up
you do the math

a few saved dvd images at 4 gig or more

2 or 3 os installs at 10 gig each for room in each

going going gone

250 gigs is very respectable. But, you need to decide if this is for a portable hard drive or will it be installed in a tower. Just make sure that it's at least rated for 7200 rpm. If it's for a tower and your power supply / motherboard can support it pay the extra for a 10,000 rpm sata drive.

It is a decent sized hard drive.. If you are using it for music and gaming.. or if you are saving documents and other programming.. It all really depends on just what you are doing with it.. remember to back up your files , I'd hate to lose 250 gs of programming..

it incredibly relies upon on what number video games ur downloading, and if u are going to maintain it in a exterior gadget. And incredibly relies upon on what number initiatives you will keep on your pc. 250GB is very perfect, 320GB is sweet. There can in no way be too plenty area in a HDD. The extra area a HDD have the extra report it could carry.

yeah, you just need to think about how much space you are really gonna need. if you have it for just, surfing the net and holding music, dont buy it. but if you really need it to hold a very large amount of files, then ya. based on your question tho, i'd say ur never gonan fill it all up. someone who needed one that big, wouldn't have to ask. lol (extended response) sry lol
