I need to build a website could anyone suggest me how to go about it step by step ??

Please also suggest me .., some good softwares to build it because m just a lay man in this field..and dont have knowledge about any languages or something..Also if u could tell me how to register and launch it once I have finished building it on my PC..and how to keep updating it and stuff..I actually wanna know the entire procedure..

That's quite a big question. I'm afraid there's no easy answer to it. You might as well have asked "How can you build a car" I'm sure Enzo Ferrari would have a different opinion than Henry Ford.

I can tell you that in order to make a website that looks decent, you will need to learn at least some basic HTML. There is a great step-by-step tutorial here http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp

If you would like the help of a website builder, I would try out Nvu http://www.nvu.com/download.php NOTE: I said "HELP" This program will not build a website for you. It's just to assist you. You're going to need to fine tune some things and that's where learning HTML is going to be necessary.

Once you have your website built and saved on your computer, you need to find someone that will host it for you. What that means is, you need to send your whole website to a "Webhosting service" and for a fee, they will assign an address to your website, and allow anyone with access to the internet type in "www.yourwebsitename.com" and they will see your site. Most webhost services require you to send your website to them via FTP. I use smartftp http://www.smartftp.com/download/

There is going to be many things that you will need to learn along the way, too many things for me to list here, but here is a piece of advice that I suggest you *never* forget: Google is your friend. Use it, and use it a LOT. For example, I typed "how to build a website" into google, and the first page I got was this one http://build-website.com/ Great site that teaches you STEP-BY-STEP how to build a website, and put it online. *Warning* It's a LOT of reading, but, no pain no gain!
