I'd have to go with the Democratic party... they lost to him two elections running.
It just is nuts. The Democrats and Liberals all scream about how awful the President is... but if he's so bad, then exactly how bad do you have to be to lose to George W. Bush? Twice?

Have you been waiting so desperately for Bush to get the upper hand that this minor setback makes you think the battle has been won in his favor? Now THAT'S funny. Congress expected this and they have been mulling what they already knew would have to be an alternative bill, changed slightly. Better buy the economy size bottle of aspirin, because Congress is going to put some demands on Bush whether he likes or not if he wants his funding. Next will be benchmarks that have to be met for him to get his funding. This isn't the end, it's only the beginning. They already knew he'd veto this bill and they already have other provisions waiting in the wings for King George. They knew from the beginning they'd have to compromise, how silly. This is just another planned step in the process. It's basic negotiating. You start with the highest demands and then ratchet down to the level you intended to end up at in the first place. Stupid they aren't.

Because it's politics-----and I don't care what party you support. Nobody in Congress is going to take a stand that might get them thrown out of office. Only the ones that are in politically safe area (Fienstein for example) will shout, holler, and cuss for a total troop withdrawal. Others may vote for a troop withdrawal deadline, but they know full well that Bush will veto and Congress doesn't have the necessary votes to overturn the veto. They then get it both ways---they tell their supporters they voted for the withdrawal, but tell others that they knew it would be vetoed. POLITICS AS USUAL.

Old news.
The military will get the resources they need to conduct the current campaign. Godspeed to our troops!
But Bush needs a choke chain of some kind. My grievance is with the incompetent leadership that put our troops at risk in the first place.
Mission Accomplished? Yeah, right...

Hitler also never listened to his opposition; neither did Stalin. How appropriate. And Nazi/Soviet aparatchik pigs were also proud of them, you republicans build on a great tradition of white genocidal maniac movements.

Nice try kiddo. Was this a suprise veto? Has Bush ever shown a tendancy toward anything but stubborn foolishness? No. What this does is put the Republicans, especially those who have to start campaigning soon, into the corner of either continuing their support of Bush or distancing themselves from him. Now's when things get interesting.

Sadly, I think the Troops lost.
This is a travesty! Men, women, and children dying. For who? For what? Bush's power-hungry arrogance is a sad excuse to continue this war.

Nope, they are not backing down. They simply have seen the reality of a stubborn jackass who will veto a perfectly fine bill.
