Today is Beltane, isn't it?

It is Beltane!

I suppose it would be a rather long list for them to name every holiday in every religion, so I'll cut them some slack on this one. There's 8 pagan sabbats, after all, and only a handful of us celebrate them.

Some people place Beltane more in line with midpoint between equinox and solstice

Beltane, ( May Day) 1 May (alt. 4-10 May)

Well, Beltane is 'around' May first. The Beltane fires are traditionally lit in order to provide for fertility and fecundity. They are celebrated even today. I guess it is a matter of what you consider a holiday. We celebrate in different ways I suppose.

Yes, today is Beltane.

It is listed as a holiday, at least it is on MY calender!!!

I have a Celtic calender and it has the pagan/wiccan holidays along with the usual federal & "Christian" holidays.

It also has Samhain and the others.

KHarm,
Maybe you need to enlighten the YA Police about it's significance in your realm. I think that if you were in a public school or a job and wanted to take the day off for it you certainly could since it is evidentally a holiday in your religious beliefs. Paganism is more and more a part of our society. I am a Christian but I do kinow several Pagans within my area. Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

It is all part of a government and yahoo plot to oppress ancient outdated religions.
When Bush is not killing brown people just for being peaceful muslims he is using his power to keep a few neopagans and lesbian religions downtrodden. He is really the High Druid of the religonazi's.
If it were not for the conspiracy the world would have been converted to an antiquated feminist tradition a long time ago.
Oh yeah...I forgot to say it was all a Judeo-Christian government/yahoo plot...my bad.

Because we live in a judeo-christian Muslim world that fears pagans yet still takes our other holidays for their use, ie, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas are pagan holidays in origin.

We're such a small demographic, and usually a quiet one, that they have neglected it.
