Im reserving a hotel in a vegas for June (Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat) for 3 people, but all the prices for the hotels I want (MGM Grand, Monte Carlo, New York New York) are all about $230/night.
Is that price reasonable? I keep hearing people say they slept at the MGM in the summer for like $120 and I can seem to figure out how they did so.

Try www.priceline.com and bid on your hotel make sure you review any hotels that you may want to stay at (3 star or 4 star) check the regular price and then bid.
Note you do not get to choose your hotel but the approximate location and rating.
I believe you could get the venetian for less than what you had mentioned and it has a 4 star rating.
Good luck and have fun.

Your not going to find a room at the MGM Grand on Fri or Sat. night for $120. I would look at the Excalibur and see what their prices are. You don't need a fancy place because you will be having too much fun. Try looking at the South Point Hotel and Casino. They are off the strip but it is brand new. I got a room the week of June 3rd for three nights and paying $50 per night. Granted it is all on the week day. The weekend it exspensive in Vegas.

yes... if you buy it directly from the hotel's website.. or various other hotel booking website.... it is going to be around $200 a night.
If you goto Las Vegas this time, make sure you go around hotels making the comp card... play a table game for 1~2 hours..
When you go home.. you will get outraging deals from the hotels.
I have a friend's wedding in Vegas this month... normal rate to stay in was $230 a night. Even with 10% discount because of the wedding, still $200+...
so Checked my coupon that the hotel sent me, I can book it for under $100. Same room, Same dates.
You can also check out hotwire.com
Hotwire has really really cheap prices compare to any other hotel booking sites...
but... they will not tell you the hotel name until you make the payment. (and usually non refundable)
But pretty good deal... I believe if the location is in South strip (or north.. i forgot) and a 5 star rating... it was always Venatian. I believe 3 star was Aladdin... but hey.. I personally don't mind which hotel i stay in vegas... cause every hotel is just so damm close by.
good luck.

It honestly depends on what's happening in the city then. In general, Friday & Saturday nights will be probably double the price of Wednesday and Thursday - that's pretty much the hard and fast rule out there because most people want to be there Fri & Sat. But, if there's a big event going on (like for example, this weekend's DeLa Hoya fight) rooms are going to be WAY expensive because people who want to see the fight or be there for the fight or celeb sightings will probably pay it.
MGM for $120 a night in the summer? It was probably Monday to Thursday and in July or August - when it's 120 degrees during the day, and a cool 90 at night.

That is pretty reasonable. Especially for hotels of that status. MGM is one of my favorite hotels. The price should be lower for Wed and Thur but the weekends are alway on the expensive side. You also have to keep in mind any events that are going on that weekend in Vegas which will cause the prices to be higher.

I think if you check your pricing, you might find that that number is an average of all those nights. Usually, weeknights (M-Th) are cheaper and then Fr-and Sat are higher because it is the weekend. \
At any rate, I did a search on Yahoo travel for the MGM grand for Wed-Sunday, June, 13-17, 2007 and here are the prices:
159.99 $169.99 $209.99 $239.99 $194.99 Select
West Wing Room with 1 King Bed $179.99 $189.99 $229.99 $259.99 $214.99 Select
Bungalow King Suite $249.99 $249.99 $289.99 $319.99 $277.49 Select
Bungalow Queen Suite $249.99 $249.99 $289.99 $319.99 $277.49 Select
Celebrity Spa Suite with 1 King Bed $279.99 $279.99 $319.99 $349.99 $307.49
So, your estimate of aroound $230 is correct. I'm not sure where your friend got the $120.00 price, though.
Enjoy!

It seems like its a bit on the high end but it larger depends on the dates. I have noticed the first week of June is expensive due to 2 fairly big conventions at that time. Check out http://www.travelaxe.com to compare room rates at a bunch of travel sites at once then when you decide on a place, check their website for a sanity check just to be sure.

You should contact the Vegas hotels directly. Sometimes they offer hidden rates not published by major travel websites. You could also ask the hotels for business rate or conventioner rate. These prices are often less than published prices. BTW, avoid NY NY ... not worth it.

They meant July and August summer. When it is 115 degrees in Vegas and your tennis shoes melt as you cross the street. Miserable. And I am from Texas. We see 100 degree days all summer, but nothing that hot.
