>>??!! Don't you realize that they are ALL corrupt??!! DUH. Even the voting machines are rigged. Why don't you just give it up and realize that your country is never going to change without a revolution instead of blaming what size the toilet paper is on the Democrats. LOL

OK for the dude that works for the government, how much time would they get in jail if the Pigs found their "stash?" They wouldn't spend a minute in jail. But if it were a black male, he'd probably get 30 years,,,

I agree. The two parties talk about there issues during campaigns and then once in office talk about it but never to the point where there is action. If there is action it is short lived and rarely long term. Even the third parties are no better. The only libertarian in office in the United States(Bill Masters)Sherrif in a Montana county) enforcess the drug war even though libetarians are against it.The parties are not any different as they all just want to be in office.

I love how the most skeptical people around are skeptical about things that they don't know anything about, and are extremely confused about.

I work for the government. I work in politics. I have for awhile. For everyone who thinks that politics is all bad, and all politicians are corrupt; please stop listening to everything you read, and please stop interrupting complicated issues into simple opinions.

Most of the politicians I work for are good, good people. If you knew how many times one of your elected officials said something like, "I need to read more of my constituent mail before I take a stand on this," or "I can't vote for this because of who I represent." Yes, there are lobbyists. Yes, there is money. But in no way does that automatically make everything corrupt.
I have never figured out why people believe the system is corrupt because a pro-gun candidate takes money from the NRA, and then claims that the candidate was bought. Are you kidding me? They are trying to get elected on their platform and are taking money from groups and voters who agree with them.
While I am an idealist, I recognize that there are major problems in the system. But in many ways, it stems from the people. The people don't know what their leaders are doing, they don't care, and they don't pay attention. And when they do, they get a 30-second news segment on a bill that, literally, took years....years to pass. It gets dumbed down.

Only half of our country votes, and everybody complains about it. If the other half was motivated enough, they could start a new political party and own the system. But they don't. Because they are either too apathetic or lazy. Either way, the decisions are made by those who show up. And many people just don't show up.
People want to say the system is set up for the rich and powerful run the show. Why then do I know over a hundred elected officials, none of which would be considered "rich" by almost anyone's standards.
Powerful accordingly to whom? Sure, once they get elected they are powerful, because they've been given the power of the people. The people have entrusted them with their power.

While I understand where all these opinions come from, they are not grounded in the entire story, and they also fail to consider the things they have done to perpetuate the system they do not like.

You lack understanding of the political parties - they can easily be differentiated. You probably cannot name 5 issues that each are promoting.
You had better develop a better understanding than: POLITICS BAD
Ignore the surface chatter from the trolls about pedophiles or toilet paper and go do some research.

Awww... Is m wittiw upset wi big, bad 'murka?

Frankly, I think it *does* make a difference -- aside from your sophomoric "toilet paper" quip. Arguing about politics is every bit as much an exercise in democracy as arguing about foreign policy (as if there were a foreign policy from our Idiot King) and domestic policy.

You are right about one thing: it is MY country, which obviously makes it NOT your country. Dreadful sorry for you, Clementine.

Your additional details highlight your irrelevance regarding American political discussion, I think.

Why should we listen to your opinion if you can't write without cursing, insult, or proper language. You sound like a twelve year old off his meds.

It depends on your point of view.
I, as a Republican, do not believe in giving homesexuals equal rights, I am also pro-life, and pro-Christianity. Our founding fathers were all Christians! Democrats in the other hand have forgotten that this country was founded as one nation under GOD. They are liberals, that if allowed, will destroy the very fabric of this country. If we give our backs to GOD we have to prepare for the consequences. You can take that to the bank. But do not worry, if Democrats continue to enforce abortion rights, THEY will cease to exist and Christian will prevail.

Does it make you feel better to believe that all things in your life are beyond your control?

2007-05-01 13:10:12 · answer #8 · answered by espreses@sbcglobal.net 6 · 0 0

Yes. It makes a difference. One, Republicans, want freedom, to be a free-thinking, free-working society.
The second, Democrats, want government control of the people. Universal health-care, and National ID cards. CONTROL. They have a give-me attitude.
Very different ideologies.
I choose Republicans. I want my freedom.
