If you truly have a rental agreement signed with this landlord then don't let him push you around contact a lawyer. Usually one letter from him or her will get this guy to cool his heals and give you proper notice.

If you have a lease agreement with him, he has to abide by the agreement.
If you have a month to month agreement, he has to give you at least 30 days to move out.
If you have a security deposit, he'd have to refund it unless you were late on rent, or there are damages to the property that need to be fixed. If you are unsure of anything, contact a real estate attorney and ask them about it. If he's breaking your lease, then Take him to court.

You should check the specific laws in your area, but most places have a minimum amount of notice that can be given to a tennant before requiring them to move. It's generally 30 or 60 days.

Yes, if that's all the truth, he is breaking the law by telling you to move out without sufficient notice. Get a lawyer.

Do you have a lease or are you month to month? If there is a lease, he has to honor the lease or buy you out of it. If you are month to month, he still has to give you 30 days notice. See if you city or state has a tenet union, they can help tell your rights or help with a lawyer if one is needed

It really depends on the laws in your state but you should definitely check with a lawyer.
